HOW TO GET STARTED SHIPPING FROM CHINA TO MEXICO ?

There are two options for shipping goods to Mexico - by air or by sea. Both modes of shipping have their pros and cons, which we outline on this page.

Less than Container Load (LCL): Your shipment can be shipped to Mexico in LCL with the LCL shipping service. For companies with smaller shipments, this is often the cheapest way to ship goods to Latin America. However, this may take longer than shipping a full container due to consolidation and unpacking requirements.

Full Container Load (FCL): With FCL, you have your cargo shipped to Mexico using the container assigned to you. You don't have to fill your container - you can send a partially full container if you wish. FCL is usually faster and sometimes cheaper than LCL, especially for large shipments.

SEA FREIGHT SHIPPING SERVICE FROM CHINA TO MEXICO

Sea freight is the most common way of shipping items from China to Mexico, mainly because of its versatility and reliability. While air freight has restrictions on what is allowed to be shipped, almost everything can be shipped by sea, including very large and heavy items (such as cars). The main disadvantage of sea freight is its schedule.

Other shipping methods can deliver the goods in a few days, while sea freight takes weeks. Depending on the type of cargo and the respective port of departure and arrival, it usually takes 18 to 30 days for the shipment to reach its destination.

Ocean freight operates under the FCL and LCL container system. Since FCL and LCL prices are different, please consider the container size when choosing a shipping size and getting a quote. We can help you create a commercial invoice, clear customs and arrange insurance for your shipment.

Full Container Load (FCL): These are shipments where everything in the container is owned by one company. This is a good option if you're shipping enough volume to fill the entire container yourself. This applies to bulk goods and high-volume products. This is the cheapest of all options, assuming you fill the entire container.

Less than container load (LCL): Items from multiple shippers are packed together in a single container. This is the way to go when you are shipping too small a quantity to fill the entire container. This allows for smaller, more adaptable inventories.

AIR FREIGHT FROM CHINA TO MEXICO

The fastest way to ship your goods to Mexico is by air. Freight forwarders can use carrier-only services and passenger services to get your cargo to its destination. Air freight is more expensive than sea freight.

The biggest advantage of air freight is speed. Items leaving China can arrive in Mexico within 5-7 days. This is the best option for high-value items because they have shorter shipping times. However, this speed comes with some trade-offs.

Air freight is usually more expensive than sea freight. It's also better suited for small items, since airlines have weight and volume restrictions. Air freight also uses more fuel than other modes of transportation. So if your carbon footprint and business ethics are important to you, you should choose ocean freight.

Keep in mind that air freight usually only involves shipping the cargo to an airport in Mexico, not to the final destination of the inventory. Additional shipping arrangements must be made to get your shipment to its final destination. The exception, of course, is if you agree to home delivery. As mentioned above, home delivery allows goods to be transported from the airport to their final destination and cleared through Mexican customs.

Air freight is divided into two categories: general cargo and special cargo. As the name suggests, most items are considered general cargo.
