In off-roader circles, it is an unmistakable sign that spring is approaching when Jeep once again publishes the first teaser images of the show cars on the Jeep Safari in Utah at Easter. The largest Jeep meeting in the world with thousands upon thousands of participants is taking place for the 56th time this year. After the first image snippets have been distributed since February, Jeep has now unveiled this year's concept vehicles.

At the event in the breathtaking rocky landscape around the desert town of Moab, Jeep always presents many show cars, some of which refer to old Jeep models or just come across as excellent. This year, the classic theme is largely left out, with several Wrangler derivatives and a heavily modified Grand Cherokee being shown instead.

Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2

Jeep Magneto

The subject of electric drives is also increasingly gaining ground at the most traditional off-road vehicle manufacturer globally, as can be seen, for example, in the Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2. Here, the concept vehicle presented last year was thoroughly teased again. In the Magneto, an electric motor replaces the combustion engine, while the drive train behind it corresponds to the Wrangler Rubicon with a six-speed manual transmission and reduction gear. In addition, the Jeep Magneto 2 was infused with a significantly more powerful axial-flow electric motor for the new edition, which delivers a mighty 466 kW and a massive 1,152 Newton-meter torque. Furthermore, four battery packs distributed in the car provide a capacity of 70 kWh. The Jeep Magneto 2 electric vehicle is said to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in two seconds.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk PHEV

The Trailhawk Concept is based on the new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid. Like the Wrangler Rubicon, it has a detachable anti-roll bar for more entanglement. The drive train with the electrically assisted two-liter engine corresponds to the production model. In addition, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Trailhawk comes with a roof rack with integrated lashing eyes, quad-LED fog lights, and rocker bars. The SUV also comes equipped with 20-inch neutral gray metallic wheels and 33-inch BFG off-road tires.

Jeep Rubicon 20th Anniversary

Based on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, the Rubicon 20th Anniversary concept features a 6.4-liter V8 engine. In addition, the modified 4-door Wrangler Rubicon 392 features a dual-mode performance exhaust for more audible alerts, a performance hood with a center scoop, custom half-doors, and a Sky One-Touch power top with removable side panels. A JPP 2-inch lift kit, 17-inch Mopar beadlock wheels with 37-inch Mud Terrain tires, a steel bumper with Warn winch, and a skid plate were also installed.

Jeep Bob

My favorite this year is the Bob Concept, which has a shortened bed on the Gladiator Wrangler pickup. The Jeep Bob is powered by the 3.0 liter Eco Diesel V6 engine. It's mated to a Torque Flite eight-speed automatic transmission, designed for low revs and rough terrain. Off-road capability is enhanced with a 3-inch lift with new springs and dampers, Dynatrac Pro-Rock 60 axles, and 40-inch tires on 20-inch beadlock rims. Although all four doors and the B-pillars have been removed, a custom-made soft top covers the seats and leaves the loading area freely accessible.

Jeep D-Coder

Full chapel is announced at the D-Coder, to which Jeep Performance Parts have bolted practically the entire accessory parts catalog. The technicians screwed over 35 extras onto the Wrangler Unlimited and painted them red so that no one would overlook them. That looks a bit overdone, but it is at least recognizable. To ensure that customers can also shop happily, each mounted accessory is marked with a QR code that leads directly to the JPP online store.

Jeep Birdcage

The Birdcage Concept was also set up as a rolling accessories catalog. A key component is a new chassis developed for the Wrangler 4xe with a 2-inch lift and Fox shock absorbers. An interesting detail is the front "trough" with round brackets on the side as a replacement for the standard bumper, and a cable winch is mounted here. In addition, the roof and windshield have been removed and replaced with flat black bars that mount a roof rack. The Jeep Birdcage Concept stands on 37-inch off-road tires.

Jeep '41

According to Jeep, the retro Willys concept, which will be on display at Easter Jeep Safari this year, blends "military toughness and determination" with the Wrangler 4xe's PHEV engineering. The 41 concept uses a 2-inch Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) lift kit and 35-inch off-road tires on 17-inch wheels painted matte green. The exterior color of the concept car, including the wheel covers and mirror caps, is an olive drab finish, with black powder-coated steel bumpers, Warn winch, and JPP bumper bars. The whole thing is completed with a light brown soft top.

The 56th Easter Jeep Safari will be held April 9-17 in Moab, Utah.
