Osteonecrosis of the jaw is a condition associated with intraoral ulceration and bone necrosis induced by antiresorptive medications, such as zoledronic acid, a bisphosphonate. Previous data on
 (H&B.) Verlot wound healing activity prompted the study reported herein on
 standardized hydro alcoholic extract in vitro cytoprotective activity data on epithelial and osteoblastic cells exposed to zoledronic acid (ZA).

Primary human gingival fibroblasts and murine pre-osteoblasts were treated with ZA 10 µM together with 5 or 10 µg.mL

 extract for 24h and 48 h. At both times, cells were submitted to viability assay and caspase 3/7 activation evaluation. Statistical analysis used one-way ANOVA and p=0.05.

In cell viability assay, a drastic damage effect of ZA appeared after 48 h in both epithelial (55.8%) and pre-osteoblastic cells (39.7%). When treated with ZA in combination with
 extract, cells showed higher viability values 74.1%-82.3% for fibroblasts and 66% for pre-osteoblasts. Furthermore, the combined treatment presented lower caspase 3/7 activation in fibroblasts and pre-osteoblasts.

At low concentrations,
 extract showed promising cytoprotective effects against ZA-induced damage actions; however, further in vitro and in vivo studies are required to establish the mechanism of action.

Little information exists on the status of oral hygiene behavior (OHB) and socioeconomic inequalities in developing countries like Iran. The aim of this study was to assess OHB and its determinants and socioeconomic inequality among schoolchildren in western Iran during 2018.

A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 1,457 students aged 12-15 years living in Kermanshah city, western Iran. We used multistage sampling to select the samples. A self-administrated questionnaire was used to collect data on OHB, sociodemographic characteristics, and economic status of the households of students. Multivariate logistic regression was used to examine the association between OHB and its determinants. We used the relative concentration index, normalized (RCIn) and a concentration curve (CC) to examine socioeconomic-related inequality in OHB.

The study indicated that crude and age-adjusted prevalence of good OHB was 14.61% (95% CI 12.89%-16.53%) and 15.17% (95% CI 13.22%-17.35%), respectively. Logistic regression analysis showed that sex, mother's education, socioeconomic status, and oral health literacy had a statistically significant positive impact on OHB. RCIn (0.2582, 95% CI0.1770-0.3395) values and the CC indicated that good OHB was more concentrated among the richer children.

This study provides evidence that good OHB was less prevalent, signifying that oral health remains a public-health concern in Iran. Effective polices aimed at improving the socioeconomic status of households and mother's education can contribute positively and to the prevention of oral disorders among schoolchildren.

Endodontic treatment on dental caries with dental granuloma on the periapical has the potential to flare. The symptoms of acute flare in dental granuloma are strongly related to the activation of macrophages that produce pro-inflammatory cytokine through nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB). VE-822 However, the role of NFκB in dental granuloma has not been widely explained.

To compare NFκB expression in dental granuloma and dental nongranuloma in the periapical of dental caries.

The periapical lesion of dental granuloma and dental nongranuloma was obtained from patients with dental caries who were subjected to tooth extraction. The periapical lesion was confirmed by periapical radiography and then differentiated by histological and immunohistochemistry by analyzing the NFκB expression.

Most dental granulomas were found in females (66.67%) between the ages 36 and 45 (61.11%). Dental granuloma showed higher NFκB expression compared to dental nongranuloma lesions in tooth caries (p=0.021).

The dental granuloma tissue of dental caries showed an increase in NFκB expression. Understanding the role of NFκB might provide additional insights into the process of periapical lesion development.

To facilitate research on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a prospective cohort of all Danish residents tested for SARS-CoV-2 in Denmark is established.

All Danish residents tested by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reactions (RT-PCR) for SARS-CoV-2 in Denmark are included. The cohort is identified using the Danish Microbiology Database. Individual-level record linkage between administrative and health-care registries is facilitated by the Danish Civil Registration System. Information on outcomes related to SARS-CoV-2 infection includes hospital admission, intensive care unit admission, mechanical ventilation, and death and is retrieved from the five administrative Danish regions, the Danish National Patient Registry, and the Danish Register of Causes of Death. The Patient Registry further provides a complete hospital contact history of somatic and psychiatric conditions and procedures. Data on all prescriptions filled at community pharmacies are available from the Danish National Prescription Registry.
