Weapons in New World are pieces of equipment used to deal damage to Enemies in battle. There are currently 11 types of weapons that the player can use and master. Each weapon has two Weapon Mastery trees, further diversifying their roles and use in combat.
With no Class systems in New World, Weapons distinguish a player’s role in combat activities. Players can equip up to two sets of Weapons and switch between them freely, even during combat. This freedom gives players access to various roles and abilities depending on what the situation requires. So knowing how to combine your weapons and build the perfect loadout in New World is one of the game’s core principles. Without further ado, let us dive into it!
But first, you need to know how to get weapons? They can be obtained in several ways: Through Crafting, found as random loot in chests and containers, as random drops by Enemies and Bosses, use cheap new world coins to buy, or as rewards for completing Quests. You can find and acquire Weapons that can be used immediately, provided you are at the appropriate level.
Rapier and Fire Staff
The Rapier is your high damage, close-quarter weapon, perfect for getting behind and backstabbing opponents. The Fire Staff is set up to deal a ton of damage at medium range while applying as many burns as possible. Combining the Rapier and the Fire Staff will give you one of the strongest loadouts for pure DPS. Especially single-target and one-on-one duels as you run around the world with your PvP flag held high. Also, once you’re able to grasp the basic mechanics of your weapons, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with in PvE combat.
Rapier and Bow
This build is super strong. You can get the extreme mobility of the Rapier paired with the ranged damage of the Bow. With this loadout, you’ll be able to slip between close combat and long distances while still dealing immense damage to your target. Plus, you’ll likely still have bleed effects on your target when you fall back to deal damage with your Bow. With that in mind, the abilities you used in the melee range will still damage your target while you sling arrows from the backline.
War Hammer and Ice Gauntlet
The War Hammer is a bludgeoning tool that can deal massive damage if used correctly, creating havoc with your opponents. And Ice Gauntlet is especially strong since it allows you to not only deal damage from afar but also slow your enemies for an impending melee fight. By the time you’re done dealing damage from the backline and you’ve come face-to-face with your target, they’ll be damaged, slowed, and in prime position to be finished off.
Life Staff and Hatchet
We suggest a Hatchet as Healer’s secondary - while this might sound weird at first, there’s actually a method to this madness. New World players will see the value of the Hatchet rise whenever their health pool drops since many of the weapon’s perks, including Berserking Refresh and Defy Death, rely on you to lose health to deal more damage. So you’ll be left looking to get yourself back up to full HP while your strongest abilities recharge. The Life Staff should help to keep you alive.
