How to Clean a Carpet.

You'll need a vacuum cleaner, white vinegar, and a bucket to clean carpets. For detailed instructions, see the manufacturer's instructions.

How to Do the Work.

To start, you will need to gather all of the necessary supplies:

1) A carpet shampooer or other cleaning tool

2) A bucket or other large container forcontaining water and detergent

3) A vacuum cleaner

4) Dust mops or other cloths to help with dusting (optional)

5) A plastic scouring pad

6) Your hands

Next, you will need to begin by cleaning the areas that will be receiving the most attention. Start by cleaning the flooring first, then moving on to the carpets. Schmidt recommends using a shampooer or other cleaning tool to clean entire carpets instead of just a few specific areas. Be sure to take care not to damage the fabric of the carpet and to be gentle with it – you don’t want it to become too dirty or stinky.

After each area has been cleaned, add enough water and detergent to cover it completely and wait until it has drenched everything (this should happen in about three minutes). Then use a dust mop or cloth to remove all of the dirt and dust that was missed earlier. Be careful not to damage any fabrics – this is an important step if you want your carpet to look its best when returned home.

If there are any smells left after cleaning, try adding some baking soda or vinegar solution before allowing the carpet to air-dry for an hour or two (or overnight if needed). Finally, allow the carpet to cool for at least twenty minutes before putting it back in place and enjoying your new shiny carpet!
