When shopping for a wedding dresses, many brides have a silhouette in mind that they have always imagined themselves walking down the aisle in. Here is Bel Fiore Bride Samantha in her Stunning Martin Thornburg gown. This style is a well-known favorite and loved by the bridal community; the fit and flair! Fit and flair gowns are fitted up until a point, usually at the hips, then flare out (as aptly stated in the name) to give drama and create a beautiful hourglass shape. Fit and flare gowns are sometimes also known as the "mermaid" silhouette, though many define mermaid styles as those closer to the trumpet silhouette that has a flare-out point at the knee as opposed to the hips.

This style is beautiful for many ball gown wedding dress and often features stunning beaded details (like Samantha's here), dramatic trains, or lace appliques. A gown in this silhouette is usually made from more "formal" fabrics like satin or Machado, as they require some structure for support. How do you know if this is the right silhouette for you?
