Mesh fabrics are commonly made of nylon or polyester, also known as All-polyester Porous Mesh Fabric or nylon mesh fabric.

Nylon and polyester are synthetic fabrics that are widely used in many industries. They are most commonly found in the apparel manufacturing industry, but they are versatile and can be used as specialty fabrics in aerospace, automotive, and medical applications. Comparing nylon to polyester shows that they share many similar properties, but there are still some important differences between them.

There are many types of nylon such as nylon 66, nylon 6, nylon 510, etc. There are two types of polyester: PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and UPR (unsaturated polyester). Both nylon and polyester can be used as high-tensile yarns.

Nylon is a fabric made of polyamide. Both polyamides and polyesters are polymers, i.e. long chains of simple molecules. Manufacturers of synthetic textile fibers use petroleum-derived compounds to create both fibers through chemical processes.

Both nylon and PET are thermoplastics, which means they can be melted and cooled repeatedly without degrading. UPR is a thermoset resin, so when heated after hardening, it will burn rather than melt. Also, both types of polyester absorb more water than nylon.

Many industries are valued for the strength of these two materials. However, nylon is stronger, so it is more widely used to make parts like durable plastic gears. Military manufacturers also use nylon for parachutes because it is stretchy and has a silky look and feel, and nylon is also the material of choice for tights and stockings.

Polyester is stretch and shrink-resistant and dries faster than nylon, so it is widely used in outdoor fabrics.
