The Kid will be in Cooperstown next summer, but will he have any company?

Ken Griffey Jr. leads the list of newcomers on the Baseball Writers' A sociation ballot for the Mikie Mahtook Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame's Cla s of 2016.

While Griffey, with his 630 home runs and 2,781 hits, is a cinch for first-ballot induction, there are no sure things among the other 31 players on the ballot. The only other newcomer with a chance to get elected this time would be longtime Ryan Carpenter Jersey closer Trevor Hoffman (601 saves), but voters have proven in the past to take some time to come around on relief pitchers.

The other new players on the ballot for 2016 are: Garret Anderson, Brad Ausmus, Luis Shane Greene Jersey Castillo, David Eckstein, Jim Edmonds, Troy Glaus, Mark Grudzielanek, Mike Hampton, Jason Kendall, Mike Lowell, Mike Sweeney, Billy Alan Trammell Jersey Wagner and Randy Winn.

Among 17 holdovers from last year's ballot, Mike Piazza came closest to induction in 2015 with 69.9 percent of the vote, followed by Jeff Bagwell (55.7) and Tim Raines (55).

Two players will appear on the ballot Sparky Anderson Jersey for the final time this year: Alan Trammell (25.1 percent in 2015) and Mark McGwire (10 percent).

Candidates need to be included on 75 percent of the ballots from the panel of 10-year members of the BBWAA to be inducted. Players must be named on at least 5 percent of the ballots to stay on for the following Omar Infante Jersey year.

The Cla s of 2016 will be unveiled Jan. 6, with induction set for July 24 in Cooperstown, N.Y.
