Wednesday night provided some unexpected drama and excitement when the Red Sox'sRick Porcello was named the American League Cy Young winner despite Zach Davies Jersey Tigers ace Justin Verlander receiving the most first-place votes.

Two writers who voted on the AL Cy Young didn'teven have Verlander on their ballots something Verlander's fiancee, Kate Upton, emphatically on Twitter shortly after the votes were revealed.

One of those Jose Castillo Jersey writers,Bill Chastain, who covers the Rays for, was apologetic over the outrage from his decision.

"I feel bad Craig Stammen Jersey that people are upset about this; I did the best I could," Chastain said (). "I went around the clubhouse, I asked guys. I agonized over this. The biggest thing for me Ty France Jersey was between (Baltimore closer Zach) Britton and Porcello."

People might not have been quite so upset had he not shownwhat appeared to be blatantfavoritism towardthe AL East.

In the end, Verlander lost by five points after Porcello received 18 second-place votes. Verlander needed only a fourth-place and a third-place nod from Christian Villanueva Jersey the two who left him off to pa s Porcello.

No matter the controversy, Porcello will take his first Cy Young award and run with it. After leading MLB with 22 wins and Andres Munoz Jersey providing a spendid strikeout-to-walk ratio (189:32), he deservedrecognition.
