Unexpected geometries and hand-made detailing are hallmarks of the new Nike Air Zoom Type. For Plange, the collection provides an opportunity to diversify new pockets of culture through fashion. The craft models each season are led by innovative takes on upper materials, patterns or constructions, such as this season's Air Jordan IV, which experiments with a canvas upper atop a soft blue tie-dye print.

During my last year in Philadelphia, we had Tuxedos and Tennies night at the Spectrum. With the Air Jordan 1 Low Flyease prepped for a retail release during the Summer 2022 season, Jordan Brand's decision to lead things off with such an unexpected colorway is a Travis Scott x Air Jordan bit of a head-scratcher. The design comes from a staple hard shell jacket in laymen's terms a water-resistant hooded jacket and incorporates cording details that allow for an adjustable shape.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield and originally released as the Air Max III in 1990, the Air Max 90 quite literally enlarged the window of possibility for Nike Air. Designed to illustrate what the future holds, the Air Max Day colors of Air Max 2090 imagine a future state where roads are dominated by electric and solar-powered vehicles. The shoe shared many similarities to its predecessor, the Air Travis Scott Shoes Jordan 3. Ruby-colored panels appear around the forefoot, along the tongue and across the ankle and heel, with chenille profile swooshes also indulging in the vibrant Varsity Red color. These retros will sometimes be made to look like the originals, with Nike Air and Swoosh branding, and sometimes feature the Jumpman logo of Jordan Brand.
